The Grimsby Oldtimers Hockey Association
has instituted the following
Rules and interpretation
of in addition to Hockey
RULE # 1 ALCOHOL:
There
is a zero tolerance policy in force regarding the consumption of alcohol in
town facilities. Any player or team found in violation of this policy is subject
to suspension from the league.
RULE # 2 FIGHTING:
Any
player throwing a punch or subsequent body action intended to strike (hit)
or otherwise make contact with an opposing player constitutes a fight
situation and will not be tolerated.
Any
fighting as described above will result in an automatic ejection from the
game and "immediate suspension" from the League. A Disciplinary
Hearing will then take place. Your Team Rep. will represent you at the hearing
and he "alone" will be notified of the Board's decision. Any decision
will be made within 10 days as to whether any reinstatement(s) are warranted.
RULE # 3 MAJOR PENALTY
- 5 MIN
Not
withstanding fighting. The following constitute a major penalty: spearing,
kicking, hitting from behind, blindsiding or taking a deliberate run at a
player, or any unnecessary use of the hockey stick, or any deliberate body
contact.
Any
major penalty called by the referee will result in an automatic game suspension
from the game being played as well as the next scheduled game. The major penalty
will be reviewed to determine if further disciplinary action is warranted.
A 5 minute major penalty will be served by another player. Player serving
major can be replaced with another player during a stoppage in play.
RULE # 4 MINOR PENALTY - 2 MIN
The
following constitute a minor penalty: slap shots (maximum of 18" from
the ice on back swing), hooking, tripping, clutching /grabbing, holding, taunting,
any deliberate impediment of an opposing player. Chin straps not done up.
Any
minor penalty where a player has accumulated 3 in any one game, that player
will be ejected from that game immediately upon receiving the 3rd penalty.
ANY VERBAL OR BODY MOTION ABUSE DIRECTED AT
ANY REFEREE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED ON
OR OFF OF THE ICE. ANY PLAYER FOUND GUILTY OF SUCH AN OFFENCE WILL
IMMEDIATELY BE EJECTED FROM THE GAME AND BEGIN SERVING A
3 GAME SUSPENSION. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WITH THE REFEREE-IN
CHIEF WILL THEN RULE ON WHETHER PERMANENT SUSPENSION FROM THE LEAGUE IS IN
ORDER.
RULE # 5
HELMETS AND Face SHEILDS:
Only approved C.S.A.
helmets with accompanying chin straps are permitted. Protective visors or
shields are required, C.S.A. approved is recommended by the Board of Directors.
The Board will not be responsible for personal injury sustained should that
injury be attributed to not wearing proper face or head protection.
RULE # 6 COINCIDENT
PENALTIES:
COINCIDENT PENALTIES: Any coincident minor or major penalty assessed will not result
in the teams to play short handed.
RULE # 7 CREASE:
Any
attacking player found to be in the goal crease for more than 3 seconds while
his team retains possession of the puck, play will be whistled down. A face
off will be located outside the blue line.
RULE # 8 SUBSTITUTES:
Any
player entering our league must have a RELEASE FORM duly signed, dated, witnessed
and properly endorsed before being assigned to any team. That player may not
play in any league game until he is confirmed by the Board of Directors as
having been registered and cleared to play.
Substitute players are strictly prohibited from playing
in any PLAY OFF GAMES unless he is removed from the “short list.”

The time clock will be set to run for two minutes following the Zamboni
leaving the ice surface. This is your warm up time and to ensure games start
and finish on time.
The time clock is not to be stopped unless a major problem occurs
such as a serious injury or ice problems. All games must be completed
by their pre-set times.
Any major penalty is an automatic ejection from the
game. An explanation by the timekeeper, of the penalty must be written on
the back of the game sheet. Another player will serve the major penalty of
5 minutes and the person serving the major can be substituted by a player
leaving the ice at a stoppage in play.
A minor penalty is 2 minutes stop time to start with
the drop of the puck. The time 1s marked on the score sheet and the player(s)
may then return to the game before the 2 minutes are up if a goal is scored
while being shorthanded.
All
goals will be reported to the timekeeper by the referee(s) giving
the number of the player scoring the goal and the number(s) of any player(s)
assisting on the goal. This is to be marked on the game sheet.
THE CENTRE RED LINE WILL BE ELIMINATED.
